Women's tennis No. 3 Jessica Pegula was stunned in the French Open on Monday as she fell to wildcard Lois Boisson in the fourth round.
The American Pegula ultimately lost 6-3, 4-6, 4-6 after strong start against the unheralded French player.
Boisson, 22, had never appeared in a Grand Slam main draw before this year at Roland-Garros, but is now the only French singles player (men's or women's) left in the tournament.
Additionally, Boisson has become the first French wildcard to reach the quarters in Paris since 2002, when Mary Pierce achieved the feat.
Pegula, meanwhile, was looking to equal her best performance in Paris - when she reached the quarterfinals in 2022.
