Travian Robertson, an ex-NFL player-turned assistant coach at South Carolina, was taken to the hospital after he was involved in a nasty car crash on Friday.

The 36-year-old, who works as the Gamecocks' defensive line coach, was rushed in for treatment on a significant lower leg injury. He is in a stable condition.

Robertson played as a defensive end for South Carolina between 2007 and 2011 before joining the NFL.

He was picked by the Falcons in the seventh round of the 2012 draft and spent two years in Atlanta before joining the Seattle Seahawks and then-Washington Redskins.

'Travian Robertson was involved in a car accident this morning. He is currently in the hospital in stable condition,' South Carolina said in a statement.

'We expect him to make a full recovery and be back out on the field soon. Please keep the families of those involved in the accident in your prayers and respect the Robertson family's privacy during this time.'

The 36-year-old was named the Gamecocks' defensive line coach in May 2023 and is currently preparing for his third season in the job.

Robertson previously worked as a coach for Tulane, Georgia State and Albany State.
